Rea Valley Light Railway
19 - RVLR Workshops - A selection from the stock built for other railways
9th March 2007

The items seen here have been made either for general sale or are one off specials commissioned for other railways. The materials used in the construction of the superstructure for most items is various types of wood and printed card. When the card is cut and shaped it is chemically hardened especially at exposed corners. This makes the card very strong, durable and waterproof. After adding details such as handrails etc. they are painted and then given several coats of waterproof varnish to protect them from the weather. The chassis for coaches and wagons are made up from wood with I P ENGINEERING‘s white metal Hudson style axle boxes fitted. These have brass bearings in which run I P Engineering’s 24mm steel wheel sets. The locos are powered by a variety of chassis also supplied by I P Engineering.

Please note that I have no connection with I P Engineering apart from being a very satisfied customer.
